Bob Buresh shot this nice back bear with his new
Savage 10ML-II. Bob mentioned that the media treatment has made a
big difference in cooling the rifle. Bob's load is a Barnes 250 grain
bullet @ 2250 FPS. Bob had very little time to work up loads, but
this one groups about an inch for him-- so he stuck with it.
Apparently, Bob's bear was "stuck with it!"
Duane
Wakeman pulls his 76-years-young trigger finger to cleanly drop
this doe at 225 laser-verified yards.

Larry Smeltzer breaks in his
new Savage 10ML-II on a nice northern Pennsylvania buck. According
to Larry, "Finally, I got my 10 ML-II in a position that
I could scope buck and pick a shot. He made a move between 2 hemlocks
and stopped. I placed crosshairs on the frontt shoulder area . He
went down like a "Ton Of Bricks" (no addl. emphasis needed
). Rear legs made one or 2 kicks and that was it. Bullet enter high
in the front shoulder area with a sloping down the mountain shot
. . . crushed the spine and traveled into lungs taking a lot of
backbone and ribs enroute. Lungs were one glob of pulverized meat,
bone/lung material and other 'stuff'. The 250 SST pushed by Accurate
Arms 5744 took out heavy bone, few ribs and traveled on into the
lung area and did even more impressive damage."
Barry Sommerville received
his Savage 10ML-II just two weeks before New Jersey's two day season.
Barry writes, "Day one was exciting
with the quantity of deer seen but no shooters. Around 11:00 pm
day two with nothing seen all morning thoughts of moving creep into
your mind. The mental battle begins and it's only past experiences
that guide your decision. I stuck it out and was rewarded with this
nice 126 pt buck that never knew what hit him. The high shoulder
shot with no exit and total shock absorption literally knocked him
off his feet and he never moved - quite devastating. This was my
first hunt with the Savage, my first shot at game with it and pretty
good results. Can't wait what may be in store the second time around."
Mark Lynch, who custom-crafts high-quality bullets,
used his Savage 10ML-II to bag another doe this year, and from the
size-- this chubby girl has been around for a while. Mark can be

for info on his "Super Slam Bullets" that have been really
doing the job on whitetail this year.
Jeff Flinn used his Savage 10ML-II to bag
this beautiful south Texas buck. Jeff popped him at 167 yards (laser
verified) using 44 grains of IMR 4759, the blue MMP .40 /50 sabot,
and a 260 grain bullet. The deer was quartering slightly toward
him and the bullet passed into its right shoulder and exited about
midway through the left ribs. The deer traveled about 30 inches--
straight down.
Thirteen-year-old Harrison Pickett of Norfolk,
VA, borrowed Jeff Flinn's HB Ltd. Savage 10ML-II for his very first
muzzleloading boar hunt during our visit to the Rockin' 5 ranch
in southern Texas, about 20 miles from the border.
Harrison's well-placed 75 yard shot dropped this
tasty tusker in its tracks, immediately sending the plump porker
(heaviest pig of the weekend]) off to hog heaven. A Hornady
250 grain .452 XTP in an MMP short black sabot did the trick, guided
to the right spot by Harrison's trusty trigger finger:
